The Fram Museum is organizing the second annual Roald Amundsen Memorial Lecture on 14 December 2013, the 102nd anniversary of the attainment of the South Pole. The Memorial Lecture will be held at the Fram Museum every year on 14 December to commemorate the life and achievements of Roald Amundsen. The lecture will be followed by a formal dinner on the deck of the Fram.

18:00 Launch of the films from the Maud Expedition on DVD in cooperation with the National Library of Norway

Jan Anders Diesen introduces Roald Amundsen’s expedition films and specifically the Maud films

18:25 Roald Amundsen’s expedition towards the North Pole (1923)

The restored original film from the first part of the Maud Expedition. Stephen Horne provides live accompaniment for the screening.
