Description
This maquette of Fridtjof Nansen on arrival at Cape Flora on Frans Josef land is cast in bronze by Kristiania Kunst- & Metalstøberi A/S in Oslo from a bronze original in the Fram Museum. It was sculpted by Norwegian sculptor Lars Utne (1862–1922) in 1896.
Lars Utne is known for his decorative carvings on several monumental buildings, including the National Theatre, the National Museum and Bank of Norway buildings in Oslo, and the old parliament building in Berlin.
The Fridtjof Nansen maquette is cast in only 25 numbered copies and comes with a sertificate.
The bronze original is signed and dated by the artist.
