100 Years Since The Airship Norge Arrived In Oslo !

The 14th of April marks the 100 year anniversary since The Airship Norge arrived in Oslo at Ekeberg in 1926, on its way to the North Pole!

The occasion was celebrated on the 14th of April 2026 at Ekeberg with an event hosted by Bekkelagshøgda Lokalhistoriske Forening, Pilotforbundet, Landsforeningen for Luftfartøyvern, Norges Luftsportforbund, Landsforbundet for Motorhistoriske Kjøretøy and Norsk Allianse for Bevegelig Kulturarv. The event was supported by Oslo kommune and Pilotforbundet. 

The anniversary was celebrated with speeches, lectures and the laying of a wreath.

Carl Harbitz-Rasmussen (coordinator for the event), Hanna Geiran (Riksantikvar), Johan Leon Amundsen (grandson of Leon Amundsen) og Geir O. Kløver (director for the Fram Museum, who held a lecture about the expedition)

In 1926 Roald Amundsen, Lincoln Ellsworth and Umberto Nobile flew with 13 others in the airship “Norge” from Ny-Ålesund at Svalbard over the North Pole to Teller in Alaska. With this “Amundsen-Ellsworth-Nobile Transpolar Flight” the Arctic Ocean was crossed for the first time.
